Straight from Mark Selby's victory at the 2024 British Open on Sunday night, World Snooker Tour action continues on Monday morning with the start of the 2024 International Championship.

The vast majority of round one matches in this year's International Championship will be played at Ponds Forge in Sheffield over the next three days, with the winners booking a ticket to the last 64 which will be played at the main venue in China between November 3-10.

Several top stars - including defending champion Zhang Anda, seven-time World Champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, and reigning World Champion Kyren Wilson - have had their first round fixtures held over to the Far East, so will not be playing in these upcoming matches.

In the morning session, Jimmy White - fresh from qualifying for the televised stages of the 2024 Northern Ireland Open - aims to reach another main venue when he meets Anthony Hamilton in a contest bursting full of experience. Recent English Open finalist Wu Yize is also scheduled to be on the early shift in Yorkshire.

World number one Judd Trump has not been excused this preliminary and will need to defeat Chris Totten in order to play in Nanjing later this year. Mark Williams is another top ranked player set to feature in the afternoon session.

John Higgins was denied his 32nd ranking event title by Selby, but due to his brilliant efforts in Cheltenham, the great Scot is back in the world's top 16. He is also due to be back on the baize on Monday night when he faces Ken Doherty in a rerun of the 1998 World Championship final.

All round one matches are the best of 11 frames.
