Shaun Murphy reaches personal landmark as he makes maximum 147 break at 2025 World Open

'The Magician' conjured up his latest 147 on the World Snooker Tour in the fifth and final frame of a 5-0 whitewash victory over amateur wildcard Zhou Jinhao on Monday at the 2025 World Open.
Earlier in the last 64 match at the Yushan Sports Centre, Murphy had also crafted breaks of 127 and 119 in consecutive frames - the first effort marked his 700th professional century break. The win puts Murphy through to Tuesday's round three (last 32) where he is due to face Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.

Maximum number 10 of Murphy's career on the sport's top tier comes just weeks after his ninth feat of perfection that came during his semi-final victory over Mark Allen at the 2025 Masters at the Alexandra Palace - a tournament Murphy went on to win.
It is already the 12th maximum 147 of the 2024/25 season, and there is a good chance that the record for the most 147s in a single campaign could be broken, as that current score is 13 - a record set in the 2016/17 season, and that has been matched in each of the two most recent completed terms (2022/23 and 2023/24).
The only other players who have reached double figures for their career 147 count on the professional circuit are Ronnie O'Sullivan (15), John Higgins (13) and Stephen Hendry (11).

If no one else constructs a 147 this week in Yushan, Murphy will collect the £5,000 highest break bonus.
