2025 World Open Snooker: Full draw, results, format, schedule, prize money, how to watch

World Snooker Tour
The 2025 World Open takes place at the Yushan Sports Centre in China between Sunday 23rd February to Saturday 1st March.

The 14th ranking event of the 2024/25 World Snooker Tour season, this will be the final tournament to be held in China this term.

A regular event on the professional circuit for several years now, the World Open carries one of the biggest first prizes in the sport, with the champion set to pocket £175,000.

Judd Trump is the reigning and defending champion; the world number one is going for a three-peat having won the last two stagings of the competition in 2019 and 2024.

What is the format for the 2025 World Open Snooker and how does it work?

There is a 128-player flat draw in operation for the 2025 World Open which means all contestants - regardless of their world ranking - begin in round one and must go through seven rounds to lift the trophy.

All bar a handful of first round matches were played at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, England in December. Several fixtures - including the world's and China's top ranked stars, and ties with the Chinese wildcards in - have been held over to the main venue in the Far East.

All matches up to and including the quarter-finals are the best of nine frames. The semi-finals are the best of 11, and the two-session final is the best of 19.

Tournament schedule for the 2025 World Open:

  • Sunday 23rd & Monday 24th February - Held over round one matches and round two (last 64)
  • Tuesday 25th - Round three (last 32)
  • Wednesday 26th - Round four (last 16)
  • Thursday 27th - Quarter-finals
  • Friday 28th - Semi-finals
  • Saturday 1st March - Final

Who is playing in the 2025 World Open?

All the world's top ranked stars entered the 2025 World Open, although a handful will not be in Yushan for various reasons.

Mark Williams and Si Jiahui were the highest profile casualties in pre-Christmas 'qualifying', while Neil Robertson forfeited his match in Sheffield after getting his dates wrong and not turning up.

Ronnie O'Sullivan and Luca Brecel both withdrew because of medical reasons a few days before the main venue stages were due to start. Brecel had already won his first round match against Iulian Boiko in England.

After electing not to enter the Welsh Open, title holder Trump is back in action, as too is reigning World Champion Kyren Wilson. Both Trump and Wilson have won titles in China this season; home heroes Xiao Guodong and Ding Junhui - who are both also set for Yushan - were the other champions.

The most in-form player on the World Snooker Tour at present is arguably Mark Selby, who has won the last two events at the Championship League Invitational and Welsh Open.
