The final day of qualification for the televised stages of the 2024 International Championship took place on Wednesday at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, with several former ranking event winners booking spots in the Chinese ranking event next month.

World number three Mark Allen - champion of this tournament in 2018 - is set to appear in Nanjing following a 6-3 victory over Farakh Ajaib. From 2-2, Allen resumed after the mid-session interval with breaks of 127 and 123 in back-to-back frames before later securing progression to the last 64.

Ryan Day strung together four consecutive frames from 5-2 down to deny Ma Hailong in a 6-5 comeback victory. Ricky Walden got the better Xing Zihao, 6-4, while Matthew Stevens allowed his opponent Huang Jiahao just 39 points throughout the entire match as the former UK and Masters champion recorded a 6-0 whitewash win.

David Gilbert recovered from 2-0 down to World Women's Snooker Champion Bai Yulu as he put together a six-frame winning sequence, highlighted by efforts of 104 and 100.

In-form Rory Thor posted contributions of 133 and 134 during his latest contest, but he ended up on the wrong side of deciding frame outcome as Liu Hongyu squeezed through to round two.

Jack Lisowski had his back to wall when facing teenage rookie Bulcsu Revesz, but from 5-3 behind, 'Jackpot' went on a three-frame rally with breaks of 69, 59 and 108 to set himself up for another trip to the Far East.

Recent British Open semi-finalist Oliver Lines will play no further part in the £825,000 competition, though, as he was dismissed by Jackson Page, 6-2.

Yuan Sijun (110 break), He Guoqiang, Joe Perry, Ross Muir and Andrew Higginson were the other match winners in Yorkshire on Wednesday.
