The remaining round three (round of 64) matches in the 2024 English Open will be completed on Tuesday at the Brentwood Centre, with former winner Ronnie O’Sullivan scheduled to begin his title quest in the evening session.

Champion in 2017 - when it was held in Barnsley - O’Sullivan is set to meet last season’s Rookie of the Year He Guoqiang at 19:00BST in a best-of-seven frames encounter.

Their only previous head-to-head on the professional circuit came earlier this season at the behind-closed-doors Championship League where He defeated O’Sullivan, 3-0.

Mark Williams - who narrowly missed out on Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters glory and the £500,000 first prize earlier this month - is back in action for the first time since that trip. The three-time World Champion faces Ben Woollaston.

Neil Robertson meets Jackson Page in a tasty encounter, while Stephen Maguire plays exciting teenage prospect Bulcsu Revesz; a rookie professional from Hungary. Recently dethroned World Number One Mark Allen is also set to begin his title challenge.

John Higgins continues to cling on to his long-standing status as a top 16 player; the 31-time ranking event champion - who is still on 998 professional career centuries - opens up against Andrew Higginson.

2023 World Champion Luca Brecel is aiming to win his first ranking event match since March when he is tested by the very experienced Anthony Hamilton.
