Ng On Yee wins 2024 US Women's Snooker Open without dropping a frame
It is the first time that the 33-year-old from Hong Kong has secured this Stateside accolade, and the triumph represents On Yee's fourth ranking title success in as many countries within the past 12 months following victories in Australia, Albania and England.

Runner-up here last year, On Yee qualified for the knockout phase of the competition by finishing top of Group B with four wins from four and without relinquishing a frame in the process. During her progression through the short format, the three-time world women's champion highlighted breaks of 61, 78 and 90.
In the knockouts, On Yee eliminated Frances Tso (USA) 3-0 in the last eight before registering a run of 55 in the final frame as she ended the run of Tessa Davidson (England) 4-0 in the semi-finals. World Women's Seniors Champion Davidson - who took a very long hiatus from the circuit and has only returned in recent years - reached the last four of a ranking event for the first time since 1999.
Emerging through the other side of the draw was India's Ramachandran who had never previously been past the last eight of a ranking event on the World Women's Snooker Tour.

Last year's World Women's Under-21 Snooker Championship title victor qualified second in the same group behind On Yee having won her other three matches.
The 21-year-old then caused an upset as she ended the title reign of defending champion and current World Snooker Tour professional Mink Nutcharut (Thailand) 3-2 in the quarter-finals. In the last four, Ramachandran defeated women's world number four Rebecca Kenna 4-1, recovering from a frame down.
However, the final proved to be a step too far for Ramachandran as the experienced On Yee compiled breaks of 52, 43, 43, 73 and 83 in an impressive clean sweep victory that saw her end with a pot success rate of 95%.

On Yee - who is aiming to return to the professional snooker circuit - finished the event without relinquishing a frame; 19 frames played, 19 frames won.
Elsewhere during the long weekend in Seattle, Davidson defeated Maryann McConnell (Canada) 2-0 in the final to win the seniors event, although there was a title for 71-year-old McConnell as she ousted Kaarin Lysen (USA) 2-1 to take the Challenge Cup - an event for players who did not make the knockout phase of the main competition.
