The main venue stages of the 2024 Wuhan Open professional snooker event take place at the China Optics Valley Convention & Exhibition Centre in China between October 6-12.

The sixth ranking event of the 2024/25 season, it will be the Wuhan Open's second staging following Judd Trump's triumph against Ali Carter in last year's inaugural final.

All professional tour card holders were eligible to enter the tournament. A total of 128 players began the event which featured a straight knockout, flat draw system, meaning all entrants started out in the opening round, regardless of their world ranking position.

Although the final stages of the 2024 Wuhan Open take place in China, the majority of first round matches were played at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester between July 28-30. Several top ranked players have had their opening ties held over to the main venue, though.

The 2024 Wuhan Open has a total prize fund of £700,000, with £140,000 of that going to the champion.

Who is playing at the 2024 Wuhan Open Snooker?

All of professional snooker's biggest hitters entered the tournament, with the exception of Mark Williams who elected to skip it.

World number one Judd Trump is set to defend his title, and he is scheduled to be joined in Wuhan by reigning World Champion Kyren Wilson and a host of other star names.

Four Chinese amateur wildcards also feature in the competition.

What happened in 2024 Wuhan Open Snooker Qualifying?

As referenced earlier, the vast majority of round one matches were played several weeks ago in England. Whilst these matches are part of the event, they are often referred to as 'qualifiers' with players trying to reach the main venue and televised stages.

A plethora of ranking event winners exited the competition: Ricky Walden, Joe Perry, Stephen Maguire, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and Matthew Stevens.

Top 16 star Tom Ford will also not be in Wuhan, as too neither will World Championship winners Mark Selby, Stuart Bingham and Luca Brecel.

Jimmy White booked his place in the Far East after defeating Dominic Dale.
