World Snooker Tour announces huge maximum 147 break bonus prize

Players on this season’s professional snooker circuit can unlock a huge bonus prize fund if they make multiple maximum 147 breaks across the sport’s four biggest events.

Continuing the concept from last season, the World Snooker Tour has made available a £441,000 kitty for double perfection.

For each time the same player makes two maximum 147 breaks during the 2024/25 season in any or across the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters, UK Championship, Masters and World Championship events, they will collect £147,000.

For clarity, the player does not need to make two 147s during the same event, it can be in any combination of the aforementioned tournaments, and it does not matter what round they are made in.

For example, a player could compile a 147 in Saudi Arabia and then produce another several months later during the World Championship qualifiers; this means they would cash in a share.

This prize can be claimed up to three times by three different people, hence the £441,000 overall pot.

Theoretically, though, one player could scoop the whole bonus if they - extremely unlikely as it is - craft six maximum 147 breaks during these tournaments. If a player makes four maximums, they will trouser two shares of the bonus fund (£294,000).

The prize fund is not unlimited, so if three shares have already been won, no additional bonuses will be awarded for anyone else who completes a duo.

This idea was launched for the first time last season (2023/24), although only the Triple Crown events applied. Now with the inaugural, big-money Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters being added to the criteria, the likelihood of someone winning a share has increased.

A total of four 147s were constructed during Triple Crown events last term, although they were each made by different players, so no bonus was awarded. The maximums were from: Xu Si (UK Championship qualifying), Ding Junhui (Masters), Mark Allen (Masters) and Noppon Saengkham (World Championship qualifying).
