World Grand Prix snooker to play a star role in 'Hong Kong Super March'

Several big sporting, cultural and artistic events are set to take place in the city across the coming weeks, and the festival has been branded by local authorities as ‘Hong Kong Super March’.
The 2025 World Grand Prix takes place between March 4th-9th, with the top 32 players from this season’s one-year World Snooker Tour ranking list receiving invites. It has been classed as a “M” Mark event, as awarded by the Hong Kong Major Sports Events Committee for signature competitions on its territory sports calendar.

It is the first time that the prestigious Players Series event has been held outside of the United Kingdom, and the change of venue coincides with a huge prize money boost with this year’s champion set to pocket £180,000 (up £80k from 2024).
The competition will be held at the new, state-of-the-art Kai Tak Arena located within the stadium of the same name. The HK$30 billion Kai Tak Sports Park opens on March 1st, with the capacity of the outside stadium being 50,000.
Inside the venue where the snooker will be held, the auditorium can accommodate between 4,000 to 5,000 fans, and with ticket sales going very well, a new record will surely be broken for the largest live audience at a professional snooker ranking event, ever.
All of the world’s top 24 ranked players - except Luca Brecel - have qualified for the competition, including world number one Judd Trump, reigning World Champion Kyren Wilson, and current World Grand Prix Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan.
