Jackson Page compiled the 21st maximum 147 break in World Snooker Championship history on Sunday afternoon at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Page’s feat of perfection arrived in the eighth frame of his third qualifying round match against Allan Taylor.

It is the first 147 break of Page’s professional career and the Welshman is in pole position to pocket a £25,000 bonus - £10,000 for making a maximum in these qualifiers, and £15,000 for the highest break of the tournament overall.

If Page could make another 147 during this competition, he would be in line to collect an additional £147,000 as there is a special prize this season for any player who can make two or more maximums across this term’s four biggest events - the Saudi Arabia Masters, UK Championship, Masters, World Championship.

World number 35 Page’s previous highest break on the World Snooker Tour came during last year’s World Championship when he crafted an effort of 142 whilst playing Ronnie O’Sullivan in round one at the Crucible. That was the only frame Page won in that match, as O’Sullivan ran out a 10-1 winner.

More importantly for 23-year-old Page, though, is that he is in complete control of his contest with Taylor. As well as the 147, he fashioned further breaks of 63, 53, 109, 82 and 94 in establishing an 8-1 first session lead.

The tie is scheduled to conclude on Monday afternoon, with Page requiring only two more frames to reach Judgement Day and the final qualifying where he would face either Joe O’Connor or Iulian Boiko. Recent World Open finalist O’Connor currently leads that match, 6-3.

Page is trying to appear at the Crucible for the third time in his career having qualified for the main draw in 2022 and 2024.

At the start of this season, Page featured in his maiden ranking event final at the Championship League, although he was denied the title by Ali Carter.

This latest 147 is the 215th in professional snooker history. It is the 13th maximum of the 2024/25 season, a total that equals the record for the most made during one professional season. This number was also achieved in the 2016/17, 2022/23 and 2023/24 terms.
