We take a look at the tally of century breaks made at the Crucible this year during the 2024 World Snooker Championship and who compiled the most and highest.

A total of 63 century breaks were made at the Crucible during the 2024 World Snooker Championship; this is the lowest amount since 2014.

The 2024 total is a big drop from last year (2023 - 90) and bucks the overall recent trend. Two years ago in 2022 we had the most century breaks of any Crucible installment with a record-breaking 109.

There were perhaps a few factors that caused this. Conditions at this year’s Championship appeared to be tougher during the opening phases, with pockets playing tighter than recent editions. A plethora of the top ranked players also underperformed and were eliminated earlier than expected.

Which player made the most Crucible centuries in 2024?

Semi-finalist David Gilbert is this year’s heaviest scorer; the qualifier made 10 century breaks in his four matches at the Crucible.

The champion Kyren Wilson is in second with eight, and Stuart Bingham is third with six.

25 out of the 32 players on show produced at least one century.

Who made the highest break at the Crucible in 2024?

For the first time in Crucible history, three players made the joint-highest break at the venue.

The highest effort was 142, constructed by Ricky Walden, Mark Williams and Jackson Page.

Who made the highest break in the 2024 World Snooker Championship?

Before the Crucible, there were 10 days of qualifying action at the English Institute of Sport consisting of 110 matches to determine the 16 players who joined the seeds in the main draw.

As has been the case in recent years, the £15,000 high break prize included the qualifying rounds too.

A tally of 122 century breaks were made at the qualifiers. Noppon Saengkham compiled a maximum 147 break; no one else during the tournament achieved perfection, therefore the Thai star claimed the £15k prize.

The 2023 Scottish Open finalist also collects the additional £10,000 that was on offer for anyone that produced a 147 during qualification.

No maximum break was constructed at the Crucible this year, meaning the £40,000 bonus was not cashed, nor a slice of the £441,000 Triple Crown pot for anyone who made two 147s across this season’s three biggest events (UK Championship, Masters, World Championship).
