The draw and results for the 2025 Welsh Open snooker qualifying rounds

World Snooker Tour
The 2025 Welsh Open - the fourth and final leg of this season's Home Nations Series - takes place in February.

One of professional snooker's longest-running events, the Welsh Open has been held every year since its inaugural staging in 1992, when Stephen Hendry defeated home hero Darren Morgan 9-3 in the final at the Newport Centre.

Open to all World Snooker Tour professionals, the upcoming 34th edition of this ranking event is set to feature 128 players, all of whom will be trying to lift The Ray Reardon Trophy.

The tiered draw tournament is split into two phases: the qualifying rounds which take place at the Barnsley Metrodome between February 4-6, and the televised stages at the Venue Cymru in Llandudno between February 10-16.

The top 32 seeds all go straight through to the main event at the Venue Cymru, while the remaining 96 contestants must go to the qualifiers.

There are two rounds at the qualifiers. The lowest ranked players start in the opening round, and the winners of these opening matches then face players seeded 33 to 64 in round two.

The 32 winners from round two qualify for Llandudno where they will line-up alongside and play the top 32 seeds in the round of 64.

All matches at the 2025 Welsh Open qualifiers are the best of seven frames.

Who is playing at the 2025 Welsh Open Qualifiers?

A host of familiar names are set to feature in these qualifying rounds, including Jimmy White, and two-time champion Ken Doherty who claimed this title in 1993 and 2001.

Joe Perry - champion in 2022 - will need to play in these preliminaries, as will former finalists Andrew Higginson and Ben Woollaston. 2024 runner-up Martin O'Donnell needs to win a qualifying match to book a return to Llandudno.

Lei Peifan is also scheduled to be at the qualifiers; the Chinese cueist stunned the snooker world when he won his maiden ranking event title at the 2024 Scottish Open - the most recent Home Nations Series leg before this one.

A plethora of Welsh players will be aiming to make it through to their home professional event, including young amateurs Riley Powell and Oliver Briffett-Payne who have both been selected as wildcards for the event.
