The draw for the 2024 Shanghai Masters has been released with the world's top 16 players all scheduled to compete in the lucrative invitational event.

Taking place at the Grand Stage between July 15-21, the tournament will feature a total of 24 players. The world's top eight are all seeded through to the last 16, while those ranked 9-16 will face a Chinese player in the preliminary round.

Four of the eight Chinese invites have already been decided; the four highest ranked players from that nation outside the top 16 who are: Si Jiahui, Zhou Yuelong, Pang Junxu and Lyu Haotian. The other four wildcards are to be announced in due course.

The Shanghai Masters has been a constant (except for Covid postponements) on the professional snooker circuit since 2007. It was initially held a ranking event before changing to invitational status in 2018.

Ronnie O'Sullivan is the reigning champion and the most decorated winner in the competition's history with five title triumphs to his name. 'The Rocket' is currently on an incredible 19-match winning streak in the event having won the last four editions consecutively.

O'Sullivan is scheduled to defend the accolade next month and will face either Zhang Anda or a wildcard in his opening match during the afternoon session of Tuesday 16 July.

World champion Kyren Wilson plays either Barry Hawkins or Zhou Yuelong while world number one Mark Allen shares the table with either Gary Wilson or Pang Junxu.

Broadcast and prize money details will follow. The tournament format will likely remain the same as recent years with the opening three rounds being the best of 11 frames and then the semi-finals (best of 19) and final (best of 21) taking place across two sessions.
