2025 will represent the 51st edition of the Masters, and it will be the middle leg of this season’s Triple Crown Series, placed in-between the 2024 UK Championship and the 2025 World Championship.
Ronnie O’Sullivan is the current Masters title holder. ‘The Rocket’ claimed a record-extending eighth Masters title in January 2024 when he came from 6-3 behind to defeat Ali Carter 10-7 in the final and secure the 23rd Triple Crown accolade of his illustrious career.
O’Sullivan was due to be playing in this event and facing John Higgins in round one on the opening afternoon on Sunday 12th January. However, O’Sullivan withdrew a couple of days before and has been replaced in the draw by Neil Robertson, who was next in line to receive a Masters invite having been ranked 17th at the cut-off point after the 2024 UK Championship.

The top 16 players from the World Snooker Tour professional rankings immediately following the conclusion of the 2024 UK Championship in early December won invites to the 2025 Masters.
These players were split into two pots for the first round draw which was conducted live on BBC television during the aforementioned UK Championship final in York. The top eight players were in one pot and randomly drawn against players positioned 9 to 16 to determine the first round in London.
Those ranked in the top eight were classed as the ‘top’ seeds for the tournament, and fixed into the drawsheet (see below). Reigning champion Ronnie O’Sullivan was the number one seed for the event before withdrawing, and was therefore at the top of the draw. He has since been replaced by two-time Masters champion Neil Robertson.
Current World Champion Kyren Wilson is at the bottom of the draw as the number two seed.
