O'Sullivan defeated by Carter as last sixteen line-up confirmed in Berlin
The round of sixteen line-up at the 2026 German Masters is now complete following a high-quality day of action at the Tempodrom in Berlin, with mixed fortunes for the sport’s top stars.
The biggest story from the morning session was a maximum 147 break from Zhang Anda who delivered that feat of snooker perfection in the opening frame, and opening visit of his match with last year's runner-up Barry Hawkins.

World number 23 Zhang went on to win the match 5-3, compiling further efforts of 84, 68 and 66 in the process.
Elsewhere in the arena, Neil Robertson fashioned a hat-trick of tons (108, 100, 106) in a 5-2 victory over Pang Junxu. A finalist here in 2020, this title is one of the few that Robertson does not have on his bulging career CV.
Former world number one Mark Allen advanced, but three-time world champion Mark Williams was eliminated by Jimmy Robertson who wrapped up a 5-3 win a run of 101.
Trump maintains perfect record
Judd Trump has made an fantastic start to his campaign in the capital. Having dismissed Cheung Ka Wai, 5-0, in his opening tie on Tuesday, Trump scored another whitewash win, this time over Ryan Day.
The world number one produced breaks of 102, 102, 53, 69 and 134 in his latest success, as he aims to claim a record-extending fourth German Masters crown.

Another player to tot up a trio of tons (141, 110, 109) was Xiao Guodong as he saw off Jack Lisowski, 5-1.
Zhou Yuelong hit breaks of 105 and 131 but those contributions were ultimately in vain as John Higgins stamped a 5-3 win.
Si Jiahui made a 109 in the deciding frame of his 5-4 verdict over David Gilbert. Next up for the young Chinese cueist is a meeting with Trump in what is a repeat of the final here from 2024.
O’Sullivan, Zhao and Selby all eliminated
A world champion featured on all four tables in the evening session, but only one of them maintained their hopes of lifting The Brandon Parker Trophy on Sunday evening.
Ali Carter recorded only his second victory from 23 matches (excluding Championship League fixtures) over Ronnie O'Sullivan.
A two-time champion of this title, Carter began the contest in style with a break of 128 before he doubled and tripled (68 break) that advantage.
O'Sullivan - who made his first outing of 2026 on Tuesday - responded just before the mid-session interval with a run of 93, and on resumption he took frame five on the final black before levelling at 3-3.
He also led early on in frame seven, but Carter remained positive, potting some cracking balls to reach the hill and then completing victory in the next.

Without a ranking title in over two years now, O'Sullivan again looked rusty on the table, and will be eager to play himself into some form with the Crucible on the horizon. He is due to play next week in Hong Kong at the World Grand Prix.
Reigning world champion Zhao Xintong was 3-1 up in his encounter, but Tom Ford won all four frames after the interval for a 5-3 success.
Zhao now requires a very deep run in the Far East next week in order to qualify for next month’s Players Championship.
Four-time world champion Mark Selby is also out - he was ousted 5-4 by China's Xu Si.
World number 39 Xu went 3-0 up but Selby rallied with four frames in-a-row. However, the momentum shifted again as Xu forced the tie all the way and claimed the decider with the help of a 71 break - although he had to sweat it out as Selby successfully laid multiple snookers to put the outcome back in the balance.
The only Crucible conqueror to win during the evening programme was Stuart Bingham who top scored with a 121 in a 5-2 win over Scott Donaldson - gaining some green baize revenge for his 6-5 loss to Donaldson at the UK Championship qualifiers in November from 5-0 up.
