World Snooker Tour to launch exciting new viewing platform in early 2025

Snooker fans across the globe can look forward to a new viewing experience in 2025 with the launch of WST Play - a comprehensive livestreaming, on-demand and archive content service.

Revealed by the World Snooker Tour on Wednesday, the WST Play platform is set to go live on January 7th - shortly before the start of the 51st Masters at the Alexandra Palace - and will replace the existing Matchroom.Live product.

The professional snooker circuit continues to expand. Significant progress has been made over the past 18 months with new events, new sponsors and increased prize money, and the sport is enjoying success with impressive viewing numbers both in terms of live audience and television figures. The World Snooker Tour's social media reach has had a huge boost in recent times too with its Facebook page now approaching 3 million followers.

Television coverage remains a crucial part of the World Snooker Tour's ongoing plans, as they continue to work with a host of broadcasters across the world on a catalogue of events. WST Play, though, will provide live coverage for all other areas that do not have television deals in place, making sure the international snooker community is covered wherever they are.

WST Play will be a treasure trove for on-demand and archive snooker action. For territories that have television coverage of tournaments, all available matches from those events will be uploaded to the new WST Play service 30 days later - respecting the rights of the initial broadcasters.

For example, all the matches from the 2024 UK Championship - which finished on December 1st - will be posted on the new platform in January. When WST Play goes live, there will already be access to over 250 matches from the ongoing 2024/25 season made available to everyone, regardless of where they live.

As well as recent footage from events, there will also be a classic archive section to the new service with a back catalogue of the sport's greatest matches and moments.

Subscribers to the WST Play service will also receive several benefits including ticket priority and discounts.

Further details on this new concept will be released by the WST in the coming weeks, including the pricing structure for viewers.
