Even by his own remarkable standards, the 48-year-old had a stellar campaign. It began for him in China as he won the Shanghai Masters for a fourth consecutive time, collecting £210,000 and a further £10,000 bonus for the highest break. He is currently on a 19-match winning streak in the invitational tournament.
A few months later, O’Sullivan claimed back-to-back Triple Crown events - and £250,000 each time - as he recorded record-extending eighth UK Championship and Masters title successes.
The weekend after his latest glory at the Alexandra Palace, the Englishman collected his second ranking title of the term by winning the World Grand Prix, pocketing another six-figure first prize (£100,000).

At the start of March, O’Sullivan dropped just three frames across his three matches - and made six century breaks in only 16 played - en route to the inaugural World Masters of Snooker title in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He banked another £250,000 for his efforts.
Other significant paydays for O’Sullivan this season include £50,000 for the quarter-finals of the World Championship and £60,000 for being runner-up at the Tour Championship.
In total, it means that O’Sullivan has won £1,265,500 - well clear of the rest of the pack.

In second was Judd Trump with just short of a million pounds (£991,000). The 34-year-old earned the bulk of his prize money from an incredible tally of five ranking event victories - English Open, Wuhan Open, Northern Ireland Open, German Masters and World Open.
Trump also made three further finals at the European Masters, Champion of Champions and World Grand Prix. Due to efforts in the ranked events, he came top of the seasonal one-year ranking list.
The third highest prize money earner for the 2023/24 term was new world number one Mark Allen, who scooped three titles (Champion of Champions, Shoot Out, Players Championship).
Top five prize money earners from the 2023/24 snooker season:
