Professional tour cards on offer at upcoming World Snooker Federation Championships in Morocco

World Snooker Federation
Two of international snooker's biggest amateur events are set to get underway in Morocco, with professional tour cards on offer to the winners of each competition.

The 2025 World Snooker Federation Championships take place at the Radisson Blu Resort in Saïdia, Morocco between January 18 to February 1. It is the first time that these prestigious Championships have been held on the continent of Africa.

There are three events on the programme in Morocco; first up are the WSF Junior (under-19) Championship and WSF Women's Championship which are scheduled across the 18th to 23rd of January.

The winner of the Junior Championship is set to receive a two-year World Snooker Tour card for the professional circuit from the start of the 2025/26 season. This will be the fifth edition of the tournament; from the previous stagings, there have been four champions from four different countries.

In Sydney, Australia in 2023, Stan Moody secured his promotion to the professional snooker tour for the first time, via this route, while 12 months ago in Albania, it provided a pathway for Bulcsu Revesz who became Hungary's first-ever snooker professional.

The 2025 World Snooker Federation Junior Championship is due to feature players from over 20 different nations/territories. Amongst those entries are Shaun Liu (Hong Kong), Vladislav Gradinari (Moldova) and Riley Powell (Wales) - who have all won live televised matches at the Snooker Shoot Out in recent times - and 16-year-old Zhou Jinhao from China who, as a wildcard, defeated Zhang Anda at last year's Shanghai Masters before bowing out 6-1 to Ronnie O'Sullivan in the last 16.

The women's competition will run alongside the juniors at the same venue and is the latest ranking event on the World Women's Snooker Tour.

Several of the world's top women players are in the draw, including Mink Nutcharut, Ng On Yee, and reigning World Women's Snooker Champion Bai Yulu.

There isn't a professional tour card for the winner of this specific event, although the trophy-lifter will earn a place at this season's World Professional Snooker Championship qualifiers in Sheffield (if they aren't already currently on the World Snooker Tour).

Following the conclusion of the Junior and Women's tournaments is the main event - the World Snooker Federation Championship - which is effectively seen as (by many) the modern-day world amateur championship.

The entry list is soon to be released, but a global flavour is expected for proceedings. Four of the five previous editions have been won by players from the Far East; in 2022, current top 16 star Si Jiahui won this title and re-earned his professional status having been relegated from the sport's top tier. During his first season back on the pro tour, Si memorably went all the way to the semi-finals of the 2023 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre.

Totally Snookered will keep up updated of the latest news from the 2025 World Snooker Federation Championships.
