Gianmarco Tonini defeated Giuseppe Maisano 5-0 in the final to win the 2024 Italian National Snooker Championship.

Loreggia-based Tonini reclaims Italy’s top domestic snooker prize and completes a hat-trick of triumphs following previous wins in 2016 and 2022.

This year’s installment was held across three days at Snooker Sporting in Perugia and Tonini qualified for the knockout phase after advancing from his group without dropping a frame. He then top scored with a break of 57 as he defeated Gianluca Manoli 4-1 in the quarter-finals before registering runs of 56 and 58 in a 4-1 semi-final success over Valerio Grandi.

On the other side of the draw, Maisano survived three consecutive 4-3 deciding frame finishes in the knockouts to reach the final for the first time, although the experience of Tonini was one step too far on this occasion.

As well as the main event - which is referred to as ‘Serie A’ - champions were also crowned at the same venue in the lower divisions. 14-year-old Geremia Orsi was victorious in the Serie B category and Domenico Alleva tasted glory in Serie C.
