Judd Trump reaches 1,000 career century breaks in professional snooker competition

The world number one reached the historic milestone during his quarter-final match at the 2024 British Open against Mark Allen on Friday night in Cheltenham.

A run of 101 in frame two inducted 35-year-old Trump into a very exclusive club alongside other members Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins - the first and second players to have totted up 1,000 tons. Allen was also Higgins’ opponent when he made his 1,000th ton last week at the English Open.

Despite the memorable century from Trump, though, Allen went on to win the match, 5-3. Allen also defeated Higgins in Brentwood in the aforementioned match.

Following a glittering junior and amateur career, Trump joined snooker’s professional tour for the 2005/06 season. The Bristolian made his first century break - a 101 - in a professional tournament on November 7th, 2005 during his 5-2 win against Alfie Burden in 2006 Malta Cup qualifying at Pontins, Prestatyn.

A Career Triple Crown winner with 29 ranking titles currently to his name - placing him fourth on the all-time list - Trump can now add this new accolade to his glittering career CV.
