The officials who will take charge of the biggest event of the year on the snooker circuit

As always for the 17-day marathon that is the World Snooker Championship, a team of hard-working and experienced referees and officials are required to make sure that the action on the green baize goes swimmingly for players, fans and broadcasters.

Officiating at the sport’s blue riband event is one of the top honours that a snooker referee can receive. With the attention the tournament attracts and the situations that may arise being in such a unique venue, there is surely a bit of added pressure for those overseeing the play on the Crucible Theatre floor.

The 10 referees who are set to take charge of matches at the 2024 World Snooker Championship are:

  • Marcel Eckardt
  • Jan Verhaas
  • Ben Williams
  • Tatiana Woollaston
  • Leo Scullion
  • Peggy Li
  • Paul Collier
  • Rob Spencer
  • Desislava Bozhilova
  • Terry Camilleri

Who will referee the 2024 World Snooker Championship Final?

It was announced during the previous televised event, the Tour Championship, that Paul Collier will referee the 2024 World Snooker Championship final in Sheffield.

Collier will be stepping away from professional snooker refereeing after the event so he can focus more on his ongoing duties as a tournament director behind the scenes. It will be fitting for the Welshman to go out by supervising the biggest fixture in the sport.

A qualified referee for 38 years, Collier began officiating on the sport’s top tier in 1992. It will be the fourth time that he has overseen the world championship final having already done so in 2004, 2016 and 2021.

In 2004, as a 33-year-old, Collier was the youngest person to ever referee a Crucible final, although fellow official Marcel Eckardt has since earned this record.
