What are the dates for the 2024 World Snooker Championship?

Information on when each round will be played at the Crucible Theatre.

Every year since 1973, the final stages of the World Snooker Championship have maintained the same position on the calendar in either April or May.

The only exception to this was the 2020 installment which was delayed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and held in late summer.

In early editions of the world championship, the tournament sometimes took several weeks, or even months, to be completed. Rounds of the competition were played weeks apart and at different venues; like a snooker roadshow of sorts.

However, in 1973, the tournament adopted a condensed schedule for the main draw which has remained the same concept since.

In recent decades, the world snooker championship programme at the Crucible Theatre has remained consistent, with the event scheduled for 17 days, starting on a Saturday and finishing on a Bank Holiday Monday for those in the United Kingdom.
