Prize Money for the 2024 World Snooker Championship

How much the Crucible champion cashes in and other payouts at the blue riband event.

Contestants at the 2024 World Snooker Championship will cue up for a multi-million pound prize pot.

Snooker's blue riband event - this year featuring 144 entrants - takes place across several weeks this spring, starting with the four qualifying rounds held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield which begin on April 8.

The final two days of qualifying - known as 'Judgement Days'- are scheduled for April 17 and 18. This is where we will discover the identity of the 16 qualifiers who make it through to the televised final stages.

The 32-player main event at the Crucible Theatre will be played between April 20 to May 6. In the opening round, the top 16 seeds - who are automatically in the main draw - will be joined by and randomly drawn against the 16 lower ranked competitors who emerged from qualifying only a few days earlier.

There is a total prize fund of £2,395,000 on offer for the 2024 World Snooker Championship with the winner banking £500,000. The payouts, per player, for each round are as follows:

Main Event Prize Money

  • Champion: £500,000

  • Runner-Up: £200,000

  • Losers in the semi-finals: £100,000

  • Losers in the quarter-finals: £50,000

  • Losers in the last 16: £30,000

  • Losers in the last 32: £20,000

What is the prize money for a maximum 147 break at the 2024 World Snooker Championship?

For this year's Championship there is a new bonus prize on offer for a maximum 147 break – although there are stipulations.

Earlier in the 2023/24 season, the World Snooker Tour announced there would be a £441,000 bonus pot allocated to 147s made in Triple Crown events throughout the campaign. These events are the 2023 UK Championship, 2024 Masters and 2024 World Championship.

Should a player make two 147s across any of these events - qualifying rounds included - then they will receive a £147,000 payout.

Three players could claim an equal share of the £441k kitty if they make two 147s each, or if one player makes six - as ludicrous as that seems - they will pocket the entire pot themselves.

Going into the event, Xu Si* (at the UK qualifiers), Ding Junhui (Masters) and Mark Allen (Masters) have each compiled one 147 in the respective events so far, and if they make another at the World Championship, they will unlock a share of the loot.

As well as this special bonus, like last year, there is still a separate £40,000 on offer for anyone who makes a maximum 147 at the Crucible during the 2024 World Snooker Championship.

There is again also a £10,000 pot for anyone making a maximum 147 break during the qualifying rounds.

Noppon Saengkham* compiled a maximum 147 break during the qualifying rounds for this year’s event. He is set to collect £25,000 provided no-one else makes another 147 during the Championship.

*Both Xu and Saengkham were eliminated during qualifying.
