What is the European Series in Snooker?

A potted history and information on the events, bonus prize and most successful players

The BetVictor European Series (also known as the BetVictor Series) has been a feature of the professional snooker circuit every season since 2019/20.

The Series consists of several nominated ranking events played during the season. There is a separate ranking list - the BetVictor Series Order of Merit - where whoever wins the most cumulative prize money in those nominated events collects a £150,000 bonus prize.

Four events made up the inaugural BetVictor European Series in 2019/20. Events have been added and removed since then; for the 2023/24 season, the counting events were the Championship League Snooker Ranking Event, European Masters, German Masters, Shoot Out and all four Home Nations Series events (English, Northern Ireland, Scottish and Welsh Opens).

European Series Order of Merit Champions:

  • 2019/20: Judd Trump

  • 2020/21: Judd Trump

  • 2021/22: John Higgins

  • 2022/23: Robert Milkins

  • 2023/24: Judd Trump

(Each year the winner received £150,000)

Judd Trump has enjoyed incredible success on the Series, finish top and winning the bonus three times in just five editions.

The 2021/22 Series saw John Higgins and Mark Allen finish joint top of the order of merit, although Higgins took the honour because of the countback rule. Having both gone out in the same round at the final event (2022 Gibraltar Open) and penultimate event (2022 Welsh Open), the players were separated due to their results at the European Masters (third to last Series event that season). Allen went out in the opening round, but Higgins reached the last 32.

In winning the 2023 Welsh Open - his second career ranking title - Robert Milkins also collected the £150k bonus.
